Red Velvet

Moist red velvet cake topped with a generous layer of whipped cream cheese frosting…sound decadent? It’s called the Southern Belle and it’s a cupcake created by pastry chef David Guas for the Red Velvet cup cakery. I had a chance to sample the Southern Belle, the Morning Call - chocolate espresso cake with mocha buttercream, and Summertime - lemon cake with coconut frosting at the Washington Event Professionals Spring Mixer event graciously hosted by Red Velvet/Tangy Sweet on April 15th. In a word, mmmm.
