A New Cupcake in Town

I hear that Crumbs Bakery is coming to the DC area in May to compete with other cupcakeries.  Also coming to town are two other cupcake bakeries, i.e. Sprinkles and Frosting.  With the cupcake wars going on it has me wondering will cupcakes ever replace the traditional wedding cake?

If you do opt to pass on the idea of a wedding cake and want something other than cupcakes, why not try something a bit different?  I love the idea of a beautiful dessert display of various baked treats so that guests can choose their favorite dessert.  Serve miniature desserts so guests can sample and enjoy more than one item.  The Swiss Bakery and Pastry Shop has a wonderful selection of miniature pastries.

I hope the traditional wedding cake never goes away.  There’s just something about a delicious, moist, and beautiful cake…
