Looking to provide a truly unique gift while helping those in need? Purchase a wedding party or parent gift from the Amias Project. Your generosity will help maintain the culture of the Barabaig tribe of East Africa by allowing families to find stability in a region wracked by hardship and frequent drought.

I love the cute little Match Book makeup kits from TINte Cosmetics! The Match Book includes two eye shadows, cream eyeliner, blush, two lip glosses and two brushes. It also includes a guide for those of us that need help with applying ‘the look’. How cute is that?!
Give them to your attendants as gifts or keep them for yourself.

Cupcakes appear to be all the rage these days. Hello Cupcake opened August 25th in Dupont Circle. Looking to be a bit different? Try cupcakes as favors, on a dessert bar, or instead of a wedding cake. Who can resist with intriguing flavors like the ‘you tart!’ lemon cake with lemon cream cheese frosting, ’velvet elvis’ banana cake topped with rich peanut butter frosting, or ‘heart of darkness’ moist devil’s food cake with rich chocolate gananche frosting. Ummm….my mouth is watering just reading the descriptions.

Provide a unique treat for guest favors, or put some of these gourmet cookie sandwiches in your welcome bags. The Cookie Sandwich Co. creates these decadent looking gourmet cookies and fills them with equally decadent filling. If they don’t deliver to your area ask your caterer if they can do something similar but put a little spin on it to personalize or make it reflect you.

Continued from our previous post on ‘Contributing Grooms’, some other ways your Groom can contribute include:
- Help create the guest list
- Assist with the registry (there are alot of things your guy might love especially with the unique registries available)
- Obtain the marriage license (check your state’s/county’s marriage license requirements; sometimes only one party need be present)
- Choose gifts for his attendants
- Oversee RSVPs
* Be sure to give your husband-to-be the opportunity to be involved in the planning process. Although many Groom’s say “It’s what she (the bride) wants”, you might be surprised at how much they do want to be involved in certain aspects of your wedding planning.

How much should I spend on a wedding gift for the bride and groom? Do I have to purchase an extravagant gift or would a smaller gift be acceptable? Peggy Post, a leading etiquette expert, suggests basing the amount you spend on a wedding gift on your budget as well as the affection you have for the bride and groom. If you are close to the bride or groom you might consider spending more than you would spend on a gift for an acquaintance. Additionally, it is perfectly acceptable to split the cost of a high-ticket item with another guest(s). Cash or a check is also an acceptable gift. Ultimately when selecting a wedding gift keep in mind that you should spend whatever you feel comfortable with.
How do you determine the amount you will spend on a wedding gift?
